£35m star might be about to join Arsenal, Pep called him ‘top, top class’

If a new transfer rumour is true, premier league star Youri Tielemans to Arsenal is potentially set to get a lot more advanced.

The Gunners have been chasing Tielemans for a lot of the summer.

In 2019, Leicester City spent £35 million [Sky Sports] on signing the Belgium international but, with one year left on his contract, the Foxes have to either sell this summer or run the risk of losing a major asset for nothing 12 months from now.

It was reported last week that Arsenal have already agreed personal terms with the player, indicating that negotiations are already at quite an advanced stage.

And if Fabrizio Romano and TMW are right, Tielemans could be edging closer to the Emirates Stadium.

That’s because both Romano and the Italian publication have reported that Lucas Torreira is on the verge of signing for Galatasaray.

With Torreira being a midfielder and a similiar player to Tielemans, it’s very possible that the North Londoners have been waiting on the departure of Torreira – who earns £75,000 per week – to accelerate their plan to bring in the Belgian.

But with the South American all but gone, it now seems probable for Arsenal to step up their pursuit of Tielemans and get this one over the line.

The Gunners are already the Premier League’s leading spenders this summer with £120 million, with the Leicester star – labelled ‘top class‘ by Pep Guardiola – likely to bring their total haul closer to £150 million.

Arsenal will be focusing on tonight’s Premier League encounter with Crystal Palace but don’t be surprised if Edu is in the shadows, working on Tielemans.

With Torreira effectively gone, it seems potentially a matter of time.
