Arsenal have done superbly in the summer transfer window so far.
The Gunners have landed their top attacking target in Gabriel Jesus and surprised everyone with Fabio Vieira.
Arsenal have also landed a good deputy for Aaron Ramsdale in Matt Turner, and a talented prospect in Marquinhos.
And surely it’s just a matter of time before the Gunners announce Oleksandr Zinchenko.
Arsenal may not yet be done in the market, reports suggesting they’re still eyeing a winger and another midfielder.
Regarding the latter, Youri Tielemans’ name has popped up again on the rumour mill.
Now, a report from Italy suggests Arsenal have tested the ground for Lazio’s Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
Calciomercato – via Sport Witness – claim there have been ‘exploratory contacts’ from both Arsenal and Chelsea for the 27-year-old.
Igli Tare, the Italian club’s sporting director, made a trip to London at the end of June.
There, he reportedly held talks with the Premier League duo.
Arsenal put off by price tag?
However, there were ‘two obstacles’ for Lazio in terms of cashing in on their main asset.
The first was that Milinkovic-Savic wasn’t immediately keen on joining either Arsenal or Chelsea.
The second was that Lazio chairman Claudio Lotito rates the player at €70-80m (£60-68.5m).
Lazio have not received any concrete offers for the former Genk man, despite earlier claims otherwise.
Now, it looks as though the Biancocelesti are planning to move forward with Milinkovic-Savic.
Lazio provided an ‘important signal’ by choosing the Serbia international to launch their third kit for next season.
Milinkovic-Savic is ‘one of the best box-to-box midfielders in the world’ (90Min) and would’ve been an amazing player for Arsenal.
However, the Gunners would be better off going for Tielemans at this stage, as it looks like they might do.
Not only is he reportedly much cheaper than Milinkovic-Savic and seems eager to join Arsenal, but he also has considerable Premier League experience.
