Barcelona reveal shock £25m price tag for Brazilian star that Mikel Arteta can exploit for Arsenal

Arsenal have had a transfer fee revealed for Gabriel Jesus as he would prove to be a dream transfer for the Gunners.

Mikel Arteta’s side are in desperate need of a striker in the summer, and Jesus would certainly be a great acquisition.

According to Spanish news outlet Marca, Barcelona are considering a £25m move for the Brazilian. His contract is set to expire at the end next season, meaning he can be signed for a bargain.

The Brazilian forward has scored 89 goals and added 45 assists since his move to City in 2017. However, due to the strength in depth City boast in attacking quarters and a momentary injury set-back, Jesus has only started six games in 2022. Arsenal have previously been interested in the player, and previous relations between him and Arteta could set the Gunners apart from Barcelona.

The signing of Gabriel Jesus would certainly enhance Edu’s reputation in his ability to acquire a top striker for Arsenal. The Man City forward has been pivotal for Pep Guardiola’s successes in recent years, and he could certainly play the same role for Mikel Arteta at Arsenal.

Arteta and the Brazilian international have worked together before during the Spaniard’s three-year tenure at the club as one of Guardiola’s coaching staff. This adds another incentive to secure his signature and improve the forward line ahead of next season.

The Gunners are in desperate need for a striker and will need to sign two forwards ahead of next season if Arteta wants strength in depth. This is because of the likely departure of Alexandre Lacazette, as his contract is set to expire at the end of the season.

If the Frenchman does depart from the club then the Gunners could be left with just one recognised striker in the form of Folarin Balogun. Eddie Nketiah’s contract is also set to expire at the end of the campaign, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang already left the club in the January transfer window.

Jesus would certainly be an excellent addition for Arsenal, and his contract is set to expire at the end of next season, which means he could be available for a cut-price transfer. He can play across any position in attack, making his versatility an attractive trait for the Gunners.

If he is available for just £25m then it would the Gunners to also spend elsewhere as Arsenal are set to be stretched financially as an overhaul is needed at the club in the summer due to a number of expected departures.

The fact Jesus has already played in the Premier League and is a multiple-time league winner shows that he would be able to hit the ground running, which is exactly what Arsenal requires in the striker positions currently.
