Well, premier league star to Arsenal is now not happening any longer.
Tielemans has been heavily linked with a transfer to the Gunners for virtually the entire summer window thus far.
It was reported last week that Arsenal were ‘very confident‘ of signing the Leicester City midfielder.
However, it looks like Mikel Arteta and Edu won’t be getting the Belgium international – and may have never even wanted the player.
According to journalist Ryan Taylor of The Express, this rumour has been driven by agents rather than reliable intel from the clubs the entire time.
He told Give Me Sport: “It’s an interesting one. The information I had was similar to others, that it’s been pulled.
“I was told not to write about Tielemans anymore with Arsenal and that it was very much agent-driven and has never been as close as has been suggested, which is strange because all signs were kind of pointing towards Tielemans happening with Jesus in the past few weeks.”
The Tielemans story did always seem a little questionable, yep.
That’s because the Belgian has repeatedly claimed this year that if he left Leicester, it’ll be for a Champions League outfit.
And with Arsenal finishing fifth in the Premier League standings on the final day of last season, a switch to the Emirates Stadium never really tallied with what Tielemans himself had been saying about his future.
In any case, Arteta and Edu will still need a Premier League-proven midfielder this summer and now time will tell who they punt for.
