Man United ace keen to stay put at Old Trafford as Erik ten Hag gets ready to take over

Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo not planning to leave the club as he looks set to discuss his future with Erik ten Hag.

Speaking on the Wondergoal podcast (h/t The Sun), football journalist Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo is not planning to leave Manchester United in the summer and is looking forward to discussing his future with new boss Erik ten Hag.

Ronaldo only re-joined the Manchester side last summer, moving from Juventus to begin his second spell in the Premier League.

Although he has made a difference by providing the goals for the side, the team have failed to qualify for the Champions League or win any silverware.

Romano confirmed that the Portugal captain is not planning to leave the club, although he is disappointed by how the season has progressed.

The transfer expert also mentioned that he was looking forward to meeting ten Hag and having a clear discussion with him about his future.

Christiano is not planning to leave the club. Of course he’s disappointed by the season because he wants to win but he’s not looking for an opportunity because he wants to leave United. He wants Ten Hag to be clear with him.”

ten Hag will be taking charge of the Manchester side in the summer, after completing the current campaign with Ajax Amsterdam. He recently led them to their third consecutive Eredivisie title, ending his career in Holland on a good note.

The Dutchman is expected to usher in a new era at United once he takes over, with a massive squad overhaul planned during the upcoming transfer window.

Aside from Ronaldo, the rest of the attacking department has been underwhelming this term, so that area needs reinforcements.

Romano revealed that the 37-year-old ace does not have a problem with the club signing a new striker and is aware of the Red Devils’ plans.

The football journalist also said that the forward was looking to have an honest and direct conversation with the new boss, to know how much ten Hag trusts him.

“For Cristiano, it’s not a problem for United to have one more striker because he knows that the club will sign a new striker in the summer and it’s not a problem from him, from what I’m told.

His priority is to have an honest discussion with Ten Hag in the coming weeks, to know how much Ten Hag trusts him. So there will be a direct conversation.”
