Carlos Soler has said yes to a move to Barcelona with the Catalan giants identifying him as their replacement for Frenkie de Jong.
Manchester United are eager to sign de Jong this summer with Erik ten Hag assuring his former Ajax player he will play a key role in his Old Trafford rebuild.
While the Netherlands international is reluctant to leave the Camp Nou with no Champions League football on offer at United this season, Barcelona are ready to cash in to alleviate some of the financial pressure on the club.
Barcelona must sell before they can buy this summer with de Jong their most valuable asset in the transfer market. Should they cash in, Valencia star Soler will be the man to come in and replace him, according to SPORT.
The 25-year-old has one year left on his contract and like Barcelona, Valencia are under pressure to sell star names this summer due their own financial woes.
Soler is one of them and according to the report, Xavi and Barcelona officials have given the move the green light should they cash in on de Jong.
While he is ready to join Barcelona, Soler is aware of the ‘domino effect’ needed for the move to happen with de Jong’s next move set to decide things.
Recent reports in Spain claim United have issued an ultimatum to the former Ajax midfielder, keen to avoid another lengthy transfer saga and urging him to decide over a move to Old Trafford soon.
If not, the club will move onto other targets.
