Manchester United ‘confidence growing’ that signing of attacker will get done: report

There seems to be a general belief that Manchester United will sign Christian Eriksen this summer.

It has been a very quiet start to the transfer window at Manchester United. Sadly, no incoming signings have been made yet, though that may be about to change.

Christian Eriksen is a name that has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford over the last couple of weeks. It’s a transfer that makes complete sense in our mind.

Eriksen spent some time with Erik ten Hag’s Ajax back in January as he was building his way back up to fitness. Couple that with the fact the Dane would be a free transfer in a position of need, it feels like an astute bit of business.

Well this morning, TalkSPORT’s Alex Crook has given us a positive update in pursuit of Eriksen.

It’s claimed that there is ‘confidence growing’ that United’s signing of the attacker will get done. Although Crook inherently disagrees with the deal, he seems to have the scoop that the club believe this move will happen.

It goes without saying, United have slipped down the pecking order in this country. It has been a slow rot under the Glazer ownership. Hopefully, they’re keen to put that right – starting with this summer.

Eriksen would bring some experience to the table for this relatively young Red Devils squad. I read somewhere that as things stand, we’ll only have two outfield players over 28 in the first-team squad. Perhaps that veteran presence is exactly what’s required.

It’s also worth noting that this is a relatively risk-free transfer. Eriksen comes without a transfer fee and what’s likely to be relatively reasonable wages in the grand scheme of things. Even if the 30-year-old doesn’t start every week, I like this potential acquisition.
