‘Medical on Wednesday’: Journalist says Arsenal will announce 27-year-old this week

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Express journalist Ryan Taylor has been discussing Matt Turner and his impending move to Arsenal.

New England Revolution announced way back in February that they’d agreed a deal to sell the goalkeeper to Arsenal this summer, but as of yet, we haven’t heard a peep from the Gunners about this deal. At least not officially anyway.

Turner himself has spoken about the move, but for some reason, there’s been radio silence on Arsenal’s end.

However, that is seemingly about to change.

According to Taylor, the goalkeeper is set to undergo a medical on Wednesday ahead of an official announcement of this signing later on this week.

Taylor spoke about Turner joining the Gunners officially.

“I don’t know when this video will go up, but I was told that within the next 24 hours Arsenal are hoping to announce the signing of Fabio Vieira from Porto, New England Revolution goalkeeper Matt Turner will also be having his medical on Wednesday. He will officially join on July 1st and that will be officially confirmed later in the week,” Taylor said.

We’ve known that this move was happening for months now, but it seems as though we’re finally going to get official confirmation this week.

Turner joining could have a real knock-on effect within the Premier League. Fulham’s interest in Bernd Leno could now be stepped up as the German may well be relegated to third-choice at the Emirates, while Aaron Ramsdale will be looking over his shoulder after a dodgy conclusion to the season and a poor performance for England against Hungary.

Arsenal have already announced the arrival of Fabio Vieira, and it looks as though Turner will be their second official summer signing.
