For all the good work Arsenal have done this summer, one player they apparently won’t be signing is German star, Serge Gnabry.
The Gunners have been credited with holding an interest in Gnabry for some time. And with his contractual situation over in Munich complicated, hopes have been raised in recent weeks that he could come back to north London.
However, while some Gunners fans might be excited by the prospect of seeing Gnabry again, Fabrizio Romano seems to have rained on their parade. Speaking in his column for CaughtOffside, Romano has stated that Gnabry to Arsenal is simply a no go.
“Despite the recent rumours, Serge Gnabry is not on the Arsenal list and the player has other priorities. FC Bayern have made him a proposal for a new contract to which they have not yet received a definitive answer, that’s why at the moment there’s still no imminent deal for Gnabry,” Romano wrote.
Lauded by Julien Nagelsmann for being an ‘extraordinary player’ last season, there will no doubt be a host of clubs lining up to take Gnabry if he leaves Bayern.
Arsenal, meanwhile, announced the signing of Gabriel Jesus today and remain active in the summer market.
Our View: Arsenal Can’t Be Too Downhearted Over Gnabry
At the end of the day, there’s just no way a club can sign every player linked with them, even if they might want to get their hands on said player.
Gnabry would be a fine addition for most clubs in Europe, not just Arsenal. But if Fabrizio Romano is saying it’s a no go, then Arsenal fans might as give up on it now and move on.
Will he end up at Manchester United? Possibly. But for now, Gnabry certainly won’t be coming back to the Arsenal.
