Xavi phoned Arsenal top target about Barcelona move, he’s keen to join

According to Sport, Xavi has held talks with Ruben Neves, although Arsenal and Tottenham are trying to keep him in the Premier League.

Well, Xavi is keen to bring the Portugal international to the Camp Nou, and has spoken to him on the phone about a potential move.

It comes after some sources claimed that Neves is a top target for Arsenal this summer, as Mikel Arteta aims to strengthen his midfield.

However, Fabio Paratici – Director of Football at Tottenham – is also trying to lure the 25-year-old to N17 to help Antonio Conte.

Sport believe Neves is convinced by Xavi’s project at Barcelona, where he would compete with Sergio Busquets if a move does materialise.

The Spanish news outlet add that Barcelona were keen to sign Aurelien Tchouameni – a target for Liverpool – although they are now resigned to the fact he’s joining Real Madrid.

In 36 appearances this season, Neves scored four goals, while also providing two assists for Wolves.

According to hitc, Nevess will turn down Arsenal and Tottenham to join Barcelona.

Sport add that the Wolves No.8 is enthusiastic about a move to Catalonia, and it has been said that Bruno Lage has already put him up for sale.

It seems whoever does win the race to sign Neves will have to pay a substantial sum, however.

While Lage has put his midfield maestro up for sale, he did concede that a player of his quality should be worth at least £80m.

The Portuguese coach said: “What I know is we have a special player here with us. It’s not just about Wolves, in these days which club can refuse a proposal of 80, 90 or 100 million pounds? Five or six. I would have preferred to remain with Joao Felix in Benfica, but €120m came and he left.”

Be sure to keep an eye on this saga, as it seems Arsenal and Tottenham have work to do if they want to lure Neves away from Xavi’s grasp.
